01 / Investigations

Patient, structured work where the facts are not yet clear.

Our investigations practice is built on professional tradecraft, careful sourcing and procedural rigour. We work where commercial, regulatory or safeguarding decisions depend on understanding what really happened, and on producing a record that can be relied on.

Approach

Investigations are about discipline — the discipline of patient sourcing, of separating what is documented from what is asserted, and of writing reports that hold under scrutiny. We start every engagement by scoping the question precisely, agreeing what would constitute a useful answer, and being honest about what is and is not knowable.

Our teams combine former investigators, regional specialists and analysts. Engagements are led personally by a director from end to end. We work to legal standards where required, and we will not take on work whose objective we cannot serve in good conscience.

Governance Investigations

Governance Investigations evaluate whether leadership, decision-making systems and oversight mechanisms are functioning as intended and adhering to ethical, policy and control standards. It identifies failures or misconduct and produces evidence-based findings that drive accountability and long-term organisational integrity improvements.

Capabilities

Tracing

Tracing is the systematic process of following the movement or evolution of people, assets, information, funds or events to understand how they connect across time and systems. It reconstructs sequences and relationships to reveal hidden networks, intermediaries and pathways of risk or influence, strengthening accountability by showing who acted, when and through which channels.

Due Diligence

Due diligence is a structured process for verifying the integrity, credibility and risk profile of an organisation, partner, investment or project before any commitment is made. It assesses legal, financial, governance, ethical and reputational factors, using evidence reviews, validation, interviews and external intelligence to surface red flags or hidden liabilities that inform sound decisions.

Safeguarding Investigations

Safeguarding Investigations examine an organisation’s effectiveness in preventing, identifying, and responding to harm to participants, members, staff, and communities. These investigations assess both individual incidents and systemic failures to determine accountability, protect affected individuals, and strengthen organisational safeguarding integrity. Our safeguarding investigations go beyond incident review and analyse how leadership decisions, governance structures, security practices, partner management, and operational pressures contribute to safeguarding failures or critical weaknesses. This ensures findings address root causes, not only symptoms, and support durable corrective action.

Integrity & ethics

We conduct investigations with independence, objectivity, and strict adherence to evidentiary standards. All findings are grounded in verifiable facts, with clear documentation of sources, methodologies, and limitations. We maintain rigorous controls over sensitive information, ensuring and unwaveringly protecting confidentiality and secure handling at every stage of the process.

We do not draw conclusions without sufficient corroboration, and we clearly distinguish between evidence, analysis, and judgement from accusations and rumours. Where uncertainty exists, it is explicitly stated. Our work is designed to withstand scrutiny, and we expect it.

We believe the credibility of an investigation lies not in its conclusions, but in the integrity, transparency, and fairness of the process used to reach them.
